Interdisciplinary Research Themes Showcase 2024

Interdisciplinary Research Themes Showcase 2024 In-Person

Join our second annual university-wide IDRT showcase, celebrating interdisciplinary excellence and developing networks.

Interdisciplinary Research Themes (IDRTs) are communities of practice at Northumbria University that work across disciplines and departments to address regional, national and global challenges. IDRTs combine expertise, enabling rich and collaborative discussions about research from diverse perspectives. IDRTs operate as a dynamic and fertile space to grow and test collaborations, ideas and challenges, leading to cutting-edge, high quality and impactful research.

Audiences

This event is designed for Northumbria's Academic staff, Technical Staff, Professional Services staff and Postgraduate Researchers. External guests/partners may be invited by IDRT leads.

Benefits of attending
  • Hear from IDRT leads on developments and opportunities, and share your thoughts on what you would like IDRTs to be delivering.
  • Network with leads, colleagues, potential collaborators and the teams who support research, and discover how your research might benefit from engaging with an IDRT.
  • Learn how interdiscipinary collaborations strengthen future funding bids.
  • Gain insights into how IDRTs work with industry and make real world impact.
  • Learn about how to apply to establish a new IDRT.

Submit a research poster

We invite your research poster submissions for an exhibition at the Showcase. Posters must align with the research interests of an IDRT. They will be printed free of charge and hung for you, and are yours to keep after the event.  Please follow the poster guidance on this intranet page (or scroll down and download the attachment in the green box below) then submit your poster here no later than Monday 8th January 2024, 09:00.  (Posters received after this date if selected will need to printed by the poster author).

How to align with an IDRT community

IDRTs are open and inclusive communities of practice. To get involved with an IDRT, please join its IDRT mailing list which you can access via its IDRT page. You can also reach out to IDRT leads and participate in other IDRT events. All Northumbria colleagues and PGRs are welcome to get involved, whether you are already working in these areas or just want to find out more.
